JOB TITLE: Finance Director

 

REPORTS TO:  Executive Director

 

SUPERVISES: Human Resources Manager; Accounting Assistant

 

Job Summary:  To maintain the financial accounting and payroll system and provide guidance on matters pertaining to financial reporting, procurement, financial reviews, analyses, contracts, insurance, assets and other inventories, and annual audit. Provides administrative support as part of the Skyline CAP management team. Works closely with the Executive Director to maintain financial integrity of the agency.

 Full-time, exempt position.

 

Responsibilities and Duties:

 

1) Plans, designs, and implements a system of accounts and procedures in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Procedures).

 

2) Coordinates the input and output of the accounting system, including all required reports

 

3) Prepares and checks documentation and procedures in order to prepare monthly financial statements for the Board of Directors, Executive Director, Program Directors and Managers, and in anticipation of the annual external audit.

 

4) Reconciles all private, state, and federal monies

 

5) Prepares all year end adjustments and closes books after completion of annual audit

 

6)Assists Program Directors/Managers in Developing, executing, evaluating and revising the programs’ operating budgets.

 

7) Insures effective internal controls are maintained to protect all funds.

 

8) Maintains a current Finance Procedures Manual

 

9) Provides critical administrative support by serving as a part of the CAP management team

 

 

 

Qualifications

 

Familiarity with handling all types of funding, including private donations, local funds, state grants and pass-throughs, and federal grants. Capable of accessing and interpreting regulations and requirements, such as appropriate OMB circulars to ensure grant compliance. Ability to prepare complex financial statements and reports using an accounting fund software in conjunction with excel spreadsheets for a non-profit organization.

 

Ability to supervise all human resource functions, prepare and make federal, and state payroll deposits, SUTA deposits, prepare W-2’s, 1099’s and year-end payroll reports.

 

Ability to supervise employees as necessary.

 

Willingness and ability to communicate effectively with auditors, reviewers, Board of Directors, vendors and co-workers.

 

Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or related field, Master’s Degree/CPA preferred.  At least two years of supervisory experience in financial management required.
