The Seminary:

Founded in 1886 as a Rabbinical School, The Jewish Theological Seminary today is the academic and spiritual center of Conservative Judaism worldwide, encompassing a world-class library and five schools (rabbinical, cantorial, education, undergraduate and graduate).  JTS trains tomorrow's religious, educational, and lay leaders for the Jewish community and beyond.

Florida Assistant Director:

This position reports to the Director in our Florida Regional Office.  The office for this position is located at 6100 Glades Road, Boca Raton, FL 33434, and in addition to the Director is partnered with a full time Senior Rabbinic Fellow, and is supported by two administrative assistants.  In addition, this position is supported by an over-all development staff of 45 individuals (including communications, computer ops, research and marketing) who work at JTS in NYC (3080 Broadway).  This position is directly responsible for the annual campaign of $1.85 million and includes fundraising activities large and small, directing and working with volunteer and lay leadership throughout the State of Florida (Tampa, Jacksonville, Miami, Boca Raton, Sarasota, and Palm Beach).  The Florida campaign is part of a larger national campaign of approximately $32 million.  The Florida Assistant Director is part of a seventeen-member team of regional directors that span the country. 

The candidate must:

  - possess a comfort level with face-to-face solicitation

  - be familiar with and have experience with the Jewish community and Conservative synagogues throughout the region.

  - have the ability to create innovative programming opportunities, make relationships and be excellent at follow-through, pay close attention to detail and   have the ability to advance the mission of JTS.

  - collect fundraising data for our database and conducts regular campaign analysis.

The Florida Assistant Regional Director is responsible for strengthening the commitment and enthusiasm of volunteers and donors by helping them understand the importance of their fundraising efforts on behalf of JTS, while simultaneously being sensitive to the many challenges of working with smaller Jewish communities.

Compensation commensurate with experience, plus benefit package including health, vacation and 403(b).
