Full Time Substitute Teacher

FULL-TIME SUBSTITUTE TEACHER 

The Nashoba Brooks School seeks a full-time substitute teacher (Grades PS-8) for the academic year 2008-2009.  The successful candidate will have a minimum of a B.A. degree with course work in education.  Preferred qualifications include a year of experience in elementary/middle school education and/or significant experience working with children in non-school settings.  The candidate should demonstrate knowledge of the social, emotional, intellectual and physical development of early childhood/elementary/middle school students, and should possess excellent communication, organization and class management skills.  He/She should have a desire both to work collaboratively with colleagues and to explore teaching as a career.

 Other criteria considered for this appointment are:
 passion for children, from three year-olds to fourteen year-olds; strong interest in practicing and developing teaching skills; flexibility and excitement about the unpredictability of each day; ability to identify and solve student and curricular related problems; interest in professional development; proficiency with technology and the integration of technology with the curriculum; ability to coach soccer; desire to be a part of a close-knit school community; and the degree to which the candidate models integrity, curiosity, responsibility, creativity and respect for all persons, as well as an appreciation for racial, cultural and socio-economic diversity.

 Candidates will be asked to participate in the following process.  They will  meet with appropriate school members, actively observe in various classes and meet with the Assistant Head of School and the Head of School.
