Grade 6 Social Studies Teacher

Milton Academy, established in 1798, is an independent coeducational national and day school, serving 1,000 students in grades K–12.  The 125-acre campus is located eight miles south of Boston. 

The Middle School at Milton Academy is seeking a full-time sixth grade social studies teacher for an opening beginning in the 2008–2009 school year.  We are looking for someone who is deeply committed to teaching young adolescents and who loves working with this age group.  A bachelor’s degree is required and a concentration in History is expected.  A minimum of three years of teaching experience is required at the middle or secondary level. Additional duties may include coaching and sponsoring a club or activity.  

A qualified candidate would possess excellent communication and writing skills while technological proficiency is assumed.  Flexibility, creativity, a sense of humor, an incredible work ethic and a commitment to being a strong team member in the faculty are all critically important. Demonstrated ability working in a diverse community is essential. Teacher certification is not required.
