Group Teacher & Assistant Teacher

GROUP TEACHER: Must possess superior classroom management skills, the ability to promote and maintain parent partnerships and assist the program supervisor with the supervision of Child Care Aides. Candidate must be able to use a variety of teaching strategies to work with groups of children ranging in age from 2 months to 5 years of age as well as develop age appropriate lesson plans for a continuously changing population. Candidate will be enhancing the learning and development of and providing an appropriate challenging and safe environment for infants, toddlers and pre-school children.

 

Minimum Requirements: Candidate must have one of the following criteria: a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education and Permanent State Certification; an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education; Child Development Associate Credentials and 1 year paid experience at the appropriate age level; or 60 College credits. Excellent oral and written communication skills when conversing with parents, other staff and supervisors are essential. Salary is based on education and experience and includes a comprehensive benefit package to include health benefits and tuition reimbursement.

 

ASSISTANT TEACHER: Under the supervision of the Group Teacher, the Assistant Teacher is responsible for observing the schedule of the site and adhering to its established personnel policies and practices; supervising a given group of children, the Assistant Teacher assists the Group Teacher in developing lesson plans and in the planning and execution of daily program activities; assists and shares responsibility for keeping equipment and materials accessible and in good condition; assumes the position of the Group Teacher in her/his absence. Will assist the Group Teacher with the following duties: coordinate classroom activities, monitor and supervise the Teacher’s Aide; ensure that an appropriate and approved curriculum is implemented for the development and growth of children enrolled; documentation and record keeping; keep equipment accessible and in good, clean, sanitized condition; takes responsibility for removing any damaged or unsafe equipment and reporting it to the Center Director or to Maintenance so that necessary actions can be taken; performs other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Requirements: High School Diploma, General Equivalency Certificate with 60 college credits/ 60 college credits with 24 education credits or Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) preferred. Computer literate specifically with Microsoft applications required.
