Saint Joseph’s College of Maine, an NCAA Division III member and a member of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference, invites applications for the position of Head Athletic Trainer.  This is a full-time, 10-month, renewable annual appointment with comprehensive benefits package. Start date is flexible but no later than July 1, 2008 for the 2008-09 academic year.

 

The Head Athletic Trainer will have strong communication skills, will be a problem-solver, have demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively, be committed to student-athlete wellness and will be passionate about helping the Saint Joseph’s athletic department offer the best possible experience for student-athletes.

 

The head athletic trainer will assist in providing a full range of athletic training services to 15 Division III varsity teams, including but not limited to supervising a full-time assistant trainer and contracted staff, providing injury prevention, practice and game preparation and support, injury care and treatment, contest management including limited travel; collaborating with the Health Center, a team of health care professionals and students from an Athletic Training Academic Program; assist with all aspects of training room operation including insurance claims, planning and management of physical screenings, assisting with development of training sessions for certification classes, maintenance of supplies and equipment, and preparation of the budget. 

 

Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s Degree preferred); minimum three years experience in college setting; current certifications: N.A.T.A.-B.O.C., Professional Rescuer/CPR/First Aid/AED, Maine state licensure or eligible; commitment to NCAA Division III athletics, the balance of academics and athletics and sport and gender equity. The Head Athletic Trainer works under the general supervision of the Director of Athletics.
