Harvard Avenue School is seeking a Head Preschool Teacher to direct our three and four year old classroom.  The Head teacher is responsible for up to 18 students a day with two assistant teachers (there is a 6 to 1 ratio in the classroom).  The Head Preschool Teacher hired is responsible for designing classroom curriculum.  The curriculum should be designed to enhance the whole child and recognize that each student may have his/her own developmental needs.  The Head Teacher will need to plan approximately two or three daily activities (about 45 minutes of classroom time) as well as plan and facilitate the daily “Circle Time.”   

We are seeking a talented Preschool Teacher with minimum of three years of professional experience and preferably a minimum of a BA.  This is a great opportunity for a teacher with exceptional classroom and personal skills to find the perfect job.  This position requires teachers to teach for 20 hours a week and allow for classroom prep time of 1 1/2 hours a day.  The Head Teacher must be on campus Monday through Friday from 8:30am – 1:300pm (the children attend 8:40 – 1:00) and we anticipate that approximately five hours a week will be required for planning outside of the expected classroom time outlined.

Responsibilities
• Prepare and implement the class curriculum for three and four year old students.
• Work directly with students to analyze their needs to provide a fun and challenging environment for each.
• Work closely with two assistant teachers, the French teaching staff, art instructors, and other teachers.
•Have regular contact and communication with parents via newsletters, email, and phone.  
 
Required Experience/Skills
•Minimum of 3 years of professional teaching experience
• Experience designing dynamic curriculum preferred
• BA preferred
• Strong communication/time management skills, and comfortable taking initiative and handling multiple projects simultaneously
