TITLE: High School Assistant Principal
TYPE OF POSITION: Full-time; 2008-2009 school year; salary commensurate with experience and education
LOCATION: High Schools; Hopkinton, Massachusetts

The High School Assistant Principal assists the principal in the overall administration of the school, and provides a school-wide leadership model. The Assistant Principal serves as a principal in the absence of the regular principal. The Assistant Principal reports to the principal, and supervises and evaluates professional teaching staff.
DUTIES
Duties include, but are not limited to:
1. Supervises teachers and departments as assigned by the principal;
2. Supervises the preparation of master schedule, and proposes class schedules and extracurricular activities;
3. Works with department heads and faculty in compiling the annual budget requests;
4. Coordinates MCAS testing with the Guidance department;
5. Assists in emergency planning and crisis response;
6. Assumes responsibility for coordinating transportation, custodial, cafeteria, and other support services;
7. Assists in maintaining discipline throughout the student body, and supervises the reporting and monitoring of student attendance;
8. Coordinates substitute teacher coverage as needed;
9. Serves with parent, faculty, and student groups as requested in advancing educational and related activities and objectives;
10. Other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
To be considered qualified for this position, candidates must have the following:Licensed, or eligible for licensures as a Principal/Assistant Principal by the Massachusetts Department of Education; Bachelor's Degree, Master's Degree preferred in Education or a related field; Successful administrative experience in an education setting; Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and in conformity with state licensure requirements.
