The Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College District is accepting applications for this classified position located at CUYAMACA COLLEGE. While the current vacancy exists at CUYAMACA COLLEGE, applicants should understand that they are subject to assignment to any District facility.




MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:




EDUCATION: Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school supplemented by two years college-level course work in instructional media technology or related field and EXPERIENCE: two years instructional media services experience.




KNOWLEDGE OF: Installation, Operation, utilization, maintenance and repair of instructional media services equipment and machines. Basic principles and practices of the maintenance and repair of electrical, electronic and mechanical equipment. Technical aspects of field of specialty. Techniques and principles of satellite transmission. Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy. Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary. Oral and written communication skills. Recordkeeping techniques. Applicable laws and regulations. Principles and practices of training and providing work direction.




ABILITY TO: Coordinate and participate in technical instructional media services and the distribution of equipment. Operate a variety of instructional services equipment and machines including audio visual equipment, computer hardware and software, hand and power tools and satellite communication equipment. Maintain, troubleshoot and repair instructional services equipment and machines. Provide technical information and assistance related to instructional services to others. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Remain current in field of specialty, explain and comply with applicable laws and regulations. Work independently with little direction. Plan and organize work. Meet schedules and time lines. Train and provide work direction to others. Assign and review the work of others. Maintain records and prepare reports. Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.




OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will also be evaluated for qualifications in the following: Methods, techniques and procedures used in video and digital/audio recording, editing and duplication. Record, edit and duplicate video and audio programs.




POSITION DESCRIPTION: Under the direction of the Dean, Learning and Technology Resources, perform a variety of technical duties related to the coordination, distribution, operation, maintenance and repair of instructional media equipment including audio-visual equipment and computer hardware and software; coordinate and provide various instructional media services, such as video and audio taping, editing and duplication; develop district media learning systems.




STARTING SALARY RANGE CL-36: $3,639 - $3,848 per month per collective bargaining.




SALARY SCHEDULE RANGE CL-??: $3,639 - $4,550 per month per collective bargaining.




NOTE: In order to start at the B Step the candidate must have two (2) years full-time related experience, one of them in the last three (3) years. Otherwise the placement step will be at the A Step.




START DATE: As soon as possible. Successful completion of a pre-placement physical will be required for the candidate recommended.

In order to be considered for this position, all materials must be received in the DISTRICT EMPLOYMENT SERVICES OFFICE NO LATER THAN 5:00 P.M., MONDAY, MAY 5, 2008. Candidates possessing the minimum qualifications are not guaranteed an interview.




ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Oversee and coordinate the operation and utilization of instructional media services including media hardware and software and the technical aspects of instructional multi-media equipment. Coordinate and assign workflow of personnel. Perform a variety of specialized technical duties related to the acquisition, preparation, utilization and inventory of instructional media materials, equipment and facilities. Maintain, troubleshoot and repair a variety of instructional services equipment and machines including projectors, audio and video recorders, television monitors, cameras, LCD monitors, document duplicating and editing equipment and other audio-visual equipment. Provide the design, installation, and testing for "smart classroom" electronic media and digital systems, including equipment necessary for ADA compliance. Provide technical information, training and assistance to district personnel in the use and utilization of instructional media services and equipment; provide information concerning applicable laws and regulations as requested. Communicate with vendors and suppliers to obtain information concerning instructional services equipment and prices; recommend the purchase of specific brands and types of audio and visual equipment and approved suggested substitutions. Prepare and maintain a variety of records, files and reports related to instructional services equipment and functions, including maintenance and replacement scheduling of instructional equipment. Train and provide work direction to assigned hourly personnel and student workers; assign and review work; participate in selection, hiring and evaluation processes as required. Operate a variety of instructional services equipment and machines including audio visual equipment, computer hardware and software, hand and power tools and satellite communication equipment. Work closely with faculty, Information Systems personnel, and other parties affected by instructional media services




SECONDARY FUNCTIONS: Coordinate and provide in classroom video production to develop on campus instructional programs. Record video programs for classroom use; provide video editing and duplicating services for the District; provide technical assistance in audio/video production, design and editing for district presentations as required. Coordinate satellite TV reception and distribution for campus videoconferences, teleconferences and off-air recordings. Attend meetings and represent the departments as requested. Perform related duties as assigned




WORKING CONDITIONS: Instructional Media Services Center environment; subject to lifting, climbing, adverse weather conditions and contact with equipment cleaning chemicals.
