We are currently seeking to identify highly qualified applicants for several IRB Coordinator II positions within our Office for Protection of Research Subjects.

 

The IRB Coordinator II works in partnership with the Administrator for the efficient management of several IRBs in addition to core responsibilities of reviewing and approving research involving the participation of human subjects in medical or social and behavioral research.  Independently oversee the process and review of research applications that come before the assigned committee. Additionally, the Coordinator is the second in command in a 4.5 FTE administrative team responsible for implementation, and management of policies and procedures related to the protection of the rights and welfare of human subjects to ensure the University's compliance with all federal, State and local regulations, policies and guidelines applicable to research involving human subjects. The Coordinator is responsible for applying detailed and oftentimes conflicting regulations, policies, and procedures in order to ensure the protection of human subjects volunteering for research at UCLA. This position shares responsibility for the education of investigators and research staff as required by the IRBs.

 

Desired Qualifications:

 Demonstrated professional experience with NIH/OPRR, FDA, and State regulations regarding the use of human subjects in research.  Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to independently initiate and compose highly technical and comprehensive correspondence to investigators; accurately record proceedings and actions describing complicated and involved committee discussion. Extensive knowledge of scientific or medical research terminology.Demonstrated success working collaboratively, but with independence to ensure the delivery of assignments; able to appropriately prioritize work based upon need and/or project demands.Demonstrated interpersonal skills to work effectively and diplomatically with a broad range of diverse individuals in a professional manner. Ability to organize effective record keeping and information retrieval systems. Required Demonstrated skill in operating personal computers utilizing Windows-based software including work-processing and database operations. Required Ability to exercise sound judgment and initiative in collecting technical information from a wide variety of sources.Ability to maintain confidentiality of information and records with tact and discretion. AAbility to interpret and apply ethical principles related to the participation of human subjects in research. Bachelor's degree in biomedical or social behavioral sciences or a related field.
