The Videoconferencing Specialist works with the Videoconferencing Manager and Program Director to provide uninterrupted, real-time, mission-critical operations to local and remote videoconference learning centers for the Cornell-Queen's Executive MBA program across multiple states. The Cornell-Queen's Executive MBA program operates in a highly competitive marketplace with the ability to attract paying clients who depend upon the program's extremely high level of quality and service. A high level of interpersonal skills, television production and telecommunication skills and knowledge is essential to work within this unit. Focus and attention to detail in a high-stress and multitasking environment is critical to sustaining this failure-intolerant service.During class sessions, the specialist will operate a videoconferencing broadcast studio with the responsibility for operating all equipment in the studio, communicating with the bridge operator, working with the professor, and troubleshooting any technical issues in the far end boardrooms, all of which may occur simultaneously. Working with the Videoconferencing Manager, this position is responsible for assisting in the overall training of videoconferencing to faculty, staff and students. The videoconferencing specialist will also assist in the planning and developing of future capabilities for this service particularly as it expands to serve additional Johnson School programs. The successful candidate will be able to work on Saturday and occasional Sundays. The specialist must maintain a professional studio environment for broadcasts; assist in tours, research, and development of new broadcast technology. During the year, there will be travel to boardroom sites in the US and there will be travel to Canada to work with the partner University in training and assisting in student residential sessions.
Minimum: Bachelors with one to two years experience or equivalent combination.Preferred: Bachelors with four to five years of experience. University Degree in computer science, communications, electrical engineering, or related area preferred. Three to five years of experience in videoconferencing or equivalent preferred. TV Background and Camera Switching experience desirable. In-depth knowledge of the OSI model, videoconference equipment, and broadband network facilities acquired through a variety of vendor training, general technical training, personal study, research and/or on-the-job experience.No relocation assistance is provided for this position.
