Assist one Special Gift Individual Giving Officer (IGO) and the Associate Dean of Alumni Affairs and Development of the Law School. For the Special Gifts Officer, the Individual Giving Associate (IGA) will assist in the management of approximately 250 Law School alumni/ friends with giving potential in the $ 100,000 to %241 million range. The IGA is responsible for working collaboratively with the IGO to initiate and assist with activities/ tasks required to conceptualize and implement fund raising strategies. The IGA will work independently, gathering and synthesizing information to inform cultivation strategies and, at the IGO's discretion, will also directly manage a pool of stewardship prospects as assigned. The IGA will complete follow-up actions while the IGO is traveling and visiting prospects, to ensure fast and effective next steps are taken. In partnership with the IGO and the Associate Dean, the IGA develop talking points, proposals, and other supporting materials to be utilized by the Dean, President, Provost, Vice President, faculty, trustees and key alumni volunteers, as needed. The IGA will also prepare nomination forms to recognize and further the Cornell involvement for University Council, Advisory Councils, Presidential Council of Cornell Women, Law School alumni awards and honors. For the Associate Dean, the IGA will provide similar high level support for his/her work with key donors, volunteers and the Dean. The IGA is an integral part of the Law School alumni affairs and development team.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent. Two to three years of experience or equivalent. Must have demonstrated the ability to use computer software applications, databases, networked informational systems and the internet. Must have strong interpersonal skills and effective communication skills, both written and oral. Ability to work with individuals from across the university, as well as with key alumni and volunteers and executive staff. Demonstrated ability to work independently with little supervision. Must be able to exercise strong judgment, and conduct himself/herself in a professional and ethical manner. Must be able to work with highly sensitive and confidential information. Must be extremely organized and detail-oriented. Basic understanding of the concepts and principles of nurturing fund raising, campaign/project fund raising and speculative fund raising is beneficial, fund raising experience, in a university setting is preferred. Knowledge of the University's priorities and its accounting and financial processes is beneficial; the ability to learn and understand the University's priorities and its accounting and financial processes is required. Able to do background and informational research, analyze and report findings for use by senior officers and management. Events management experience is preferred.
