Instructional Supervisor

NonPublic Educational Services, Inc, a 29 year old global education organization with continued growth seeks a full time Instructional Supervisor in our Title I program in Washington, DC. Candidates must have a Master's Degree, preferably in education or a related field, five years teaching experience and a minimum of two years supervisory experience.  Candidate must be able to communicate, give direction to others and be well organized. 

 

Essential duties and responsibilities include:

 Interview, hire, and supervise teachers. Review the teacher’s training and credentials to verify that they meet the criteria for the position. Provide leadership in the supervision of teachers and the improvement of instruction, responsibility for providing a climate within which meaningful innovation and reasonable experimentation are encouraged. Assist the Director in planning and conducting in-service activities, as documented by in-service agendas on current educational research and effective teaching practices, as well as goals, regulations, and procedures of the Title 1 program. Evaluate Title 1 teachers in the areas of reading/language arts and math as documented by the completed evaluations. Through the Title 1 teacher, the supervisor will establish a clear pattern for communicating with the regular classroom teacher concerning the Title 1 teacher. Coordinate the efforts to obtain maximum utilization of existing facilities, equipment, materials, and teacher time. Monitor off-property facilities to insure they are safe and adequate.  Authorize workmen, mechanics, electricians, and repairmen. Work with zoning officials and other outside sources as needed. Locate and recommend to Director suitable locations for “off-property’ Title 1 facilities. Implement budgets for each site and review expenditures with each teacher. Assist Director with the collection of data for Design Report and Evaluation Report. Work with Title 1 teacher to complete eligibility and participant lists, visit non-participating schools in LEAs to complete eligibility lists for possible participation in Title 1 program. Review articles submitted by teachers for “Parent Education Materials (PEM)” and develop a schedule for submission of articles. Monitor Parent Involvement activities. Assist teachers diagnose and place pupils at their functional education level. Monitor all program requirements as shown on site visit monitoring form. Assist in developing guidelines for and coordinating the pre and post testing of Title 1 students. Encourage and motivate teachers to achieve their highest degree of teaching potential.
