Instructor, Medical Laboratory Technology

 

Provide classroom or laboratory instruction to students.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

 

Primary Functions:

 

Design and implement course curriculum consistent with programmatically established course descriptions and program objectives.

 

Provide a syllabus for each class taught. Each syllabus should indicate and describe, at minimum, the content, objectives, evaluation standards, and attendance policy for that course.

 

Provide classroom or laboratory instruction to students aimed at achieving course objectives.

 

Utilize teaching methods appropriate to course content and objectives and in keeping with the widely accepted practices, values, and culture of higher education.

 

Evaluate student performance objectively, consistently, and fairly. Keep accurate and complete records of grades and other measures of student achievement, including attendance. Submit quarterly grades for each student in each class according to institutional academic policy.

 

Encourage student achievement while maintaining objective standards of academic performance and professional conduct.

 

Maintain student confidentiality and respect for privacy in accordance with institutional policy.

 

Participate with the Program Director and other program faculty in ongoing review of teaching and curricular effectiveness.

 

Participate in faculty meetings and committees.

 

Maintain appropriate professional credentials and competencies by taking advantage of relevant continuing education and professional development opportunities.

 

Represent and support program in a professional manner to both internal and external constituencies.

 

Directs work flow of and acts as team lead for instructional support personnel.

 

Qualifications/Education

 

Qualified candidates should possess a MT/CLS degree and be ASCP or NCA

certified plus 3 years of laboratory experience.  Teaching experience preferred.
