JOB FAIR! Child Care Workers/Residential Counselors/Instructional Aides

Junior Blind is a non-profit agency that provides education, recreation, training, and rehabilitation programs for infants, children, teens, and adults who are blind or visually impaired and their families. We are currently accepting applications for the following opportunities:
· Child Care Workers (Full-Time, Part-Time, Weekend, On-Call, Overnight Shifts Available)
The Children’s Residential Program serves the unique needs of children and youth with
visual impairments and other disabilities, ages 5-21. In a warm, loving, home setting,
children receive round-the-clock supervision, counseling and educational experiences
designed to develop the highest level of independence possible.
These positions provide direct care to special needs children in a residential setting by
assisting with daily living skills instruction, organizing recreation activities and escorting
residents to appointments and community outings.
· Instructional Aides
The Special Education School is a state certified, non-public school offering individualized
instruction for students with visual impairments and other disabilities, ages 3-21. The
school provides instruction for students to develop critical life skills and achieve their
greatest level of educational ability and independence.
These positions assist teachers in a classroom setting by assisting with individualized
education plans, organizing recreation activities and aiding in building steps and skills
for independence.
We are also looking for individuals for our Student Transition and Enrichment Program (STEP). STEP is a two, three-week summer program for young adults who are 16-22 years old who are blind or visually impaired. The program offers its students career exploration skills, internship-work experience, independent living skills, and much more.We are currently seeking individuals for the following temporary summer positions:
· Residential Counselors
(Temporary Summer Positions)
As a Residential Counselor, duties will include guiding and assisting students
in a household atmosphere and maintaining a safe environment. Assisting
students in planning and participating in events such as trips to the mall, the
beach, Magic Mountain, internships-work experience, and much more. We
are looking for fun, motivated, mature, responsible, and caring individuals.
· Job Coaches
(Temporary Summer Positions)
As a job coach your focus will be to lead and train students in established
work sites in the community while assisting in the planning and
implementation of strategies for developing student’s independent work skills.
We will be holding TWO JOB HIRING FAIRS on the following dates:
Tuesday, April 8, 2008
9:00 AM to 4:00 PM
&
Thursday, April 10, 2008
9:00 AM to 4:00 PM
The Job Hiring Fairs will be held at:

No appointment necessary ● Walk-ins welcome

Requirements
Qualifications:
Must have a minimum of six (6) months of prior experience providing direct care. Two years of college or A.A. degree from an accredited college or university in Child Development, Special Education, Psychology or related field. Appropriate experience may be substituted for education. Valid California Driver License and eligibility to drive agency vehicles. Must be at least 21 years of age.
