Laboratory Instructor in Biological Sciences

Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Wellesley College Department of Biological Sciences seeks two full-time laboratory instructors. One will teach introductory and intermediate laboratories in the cellular and molecular biology areas of the curriculum; expertise in microbiology is preferred. The second will teach introductory and intermediate laboratories in the organismal and systems areas of the curriculum; expertise in vertebrate anatomy and a willingness to perform dissections is required. Duties include laboratory teaching and preparation, participation in the design of laboratory curricula and the writing of laboratory guides, student advising, supervision of laboratory assistants and work study students in laboratory preparation, writing letters of recommendation, and service on departmental and college committees when requested.

Minimum Qualifications:
This position requires a MA/MS degree in Biology or a closely related discipline and laboratory teaching experience. The position is available starting in September 2008 for an initial one-year appointment, with the possibility of long-term employment. Must be able to work effectively in a culturally diverse environment.
