Job Summary:
Francis W. Parker School is seeking an Evening Maintenance Technician and an Evening Maintenance Supervisor to join its excellent staff. Francis W. Parker School is a prestigious, independent school located in the Lincoln Park neighborhood of Chicago. Both positions report to the Director of Building & Grounds and both are responsible for keeping all machines, mechanical equipment, furniture, and the school buildings and grounds in good repair. Duties vary but may involve rough and finish carpentry, drywall, minor plumbing, electrical repairs, HVAC, as well as grounds keeping and event setup and breakdown. These are full-time, second shift positions-40 hours per week (some overtime and weekends required). Essential Functions:
Work closely with the Director of Buildings & Grounds and independently to:Implement repairs and routine maintenance as needed to ensure regular and complete maintenance of the school facility to keep the buildings and grounds fully functional, safe, secure and code compliantPerform major and minor repairs to interior and exterior of the building as neededPerform carpentry, painting, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, drywall and lock repair and preventative maintenanceAssist with grounds keeping and landscaping duties when needed, including snow removalAssist with housekeeping duties if neededCommunicate effectively with students, faculty, staff and other maintenance personnelSupervise evening Maintenance staff (Evening Supervisor only)Set and respond to burglar and fire alarms when necessary (Evening Supervisor only)Provide emergency, on call service (Evening Supervisor only)Perform all other related duties as assigned
Personal Characteristics:Self-directed and flexibleReliable and punctualAbility to work flexible hours and shifts as needed/directedGood communication and strong organizational skills a must Some computer skills, primarily email, MS Word & ExcelAbility to work independently as well as part of a team
Qualifications for Supervisor:HS Diploma or GED requiredAt least five (5) years of basic experience in carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical work and HVACRecent, verifiable supervisory experience requiredExperience using Matasys HVAC control system strongly desiredHVAC and/or stationary engineers license preferredWelding experience preferredSuccessful candidate must pass criminal background check
Qualifications for Technician: HS Diploma or GED requiredAt least three (3) years of basic experience in carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical work and HVACExperience using Matasys HVAC control system preferredWelding experience preferredSuccessful candidate must pass criminal background check
Compensation:
Technician = $15.00 per hour
Supervisor = @$38,000 annually
