Maintenance Manager - 08438
The Maintenance Management department at Cornell University seeks anew team member to promote a positive image of the Facilities Services Division by proactively developing and maintaining good working relations among building users, facilities professionals, colleagues and external agencies. This is an excellent opportunity to grow your skills in facilities management and gain valuable experience in a university setting. We seek candidates with proven success in customer service, relationship building, communication, and teamwork. In this position, you will: Provide comprehensive maintenance planning and management services for assigned facilities of approximately 1 million GSF. Manage the maintenance for both routine and long-term projects. Evaluate the physical condition and functional adequacy of assigned building, including building systems, grounds, and equipment. Diagnose building system problems and either proposes solutions or evaluates proposals by others, recommend corrective action, and implement plans. Assist building users in a shared decision-making process, to prioritize identified maintenance projects. As the leader of a project team, support the team as it accomplishes activities for designated projects to insure achievement of specified goals according to priorities, time limits, and funding.

Experience in balancing conflicting priorities, and managing multiple concurrent projects with varying scope, complexity and deadlines. Must possess the ability to ask penetrating questions, detect unstated assumptions, and resolve conflicts as well as possess excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills. Bachelor's degree or other formal training program or equivalent combination of education and experience in Facilities Management, Construction Technology or allied field. At least three years experience in a university or other large facilities organization. Broad understanding of general construction techniques and demonstrated experience with decision processes and superior service delivery for a diverse customer base. University or institutional multi-site building systems troubleshooting experience preferred. Demonstrated experience performing or managing engineering, planning, construction, and maintenance related to mechanical/HVAC, and electrical, exterior or other building systems. Knowledge of and experience with mechanical and control systems in administrative, academic, and research facilities preferred. Relocation assistance may be provided for this position.
