  Manager Research and Communications, Corporate Development

 

Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Corporate Development, The Manager of Research and Communications will conduct research to support new business development including: research on companies, foundations, not-for-profits, new technologies and markets, government policy and other areas.  This person will prepare presentations, contribute to the drafting of speeches and other activities related to research and communication as needed.  This position will also help monitor third party research reports and prepare summaries and extracts on information from these sources. 

 

 

Primary Responsibilities:

 Conduct primary and secondary research on companies, new technologies and markets, not-for-profits, countries, educational trends and issues, public policy issues and other areas as assigned.Prepare and maintain a list of important research in designated areas.Prepare research reports and PowerPoint presentation to be used for external and internal speeches and presentations.Maintain internal collaborative tools and research databases (SharePoint, intranet sites, wikis) to support Pearson constituencies.Hiring and working with freelance staff to do research, prepare presentations, and other related activities as needed.Work to tight deadlines and under pressure; willingness to work overtime on occasion as needed to get the job done.Work effectively in a matrix environment with other parts of the company including the Corporate Finance team on selected projects.Willingness to travel several days a month.

 

Qualifications:

 Bachelor’s degree required3 or more years experience in research and presentation development;  prior experience in the education sector a plus Experience working in a large corporation Comfortable communicating and working with senior managementProven ability to work with presentation software and produce complex (graphics, embedded video and flash, illustrations) presentationsExperience managing freelance work, deadlines and budgets
