Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant

One permanent full time, 52 week fully benefited position to work nights and/or evenings  in comprehensive health care program for students, faculty/staff and families at UMass Amherst, located in the Five-College area with many cultural/recreational opportunities.  Duty assignments include ambulatory care and urgent care along with evening and weekend rotations in our Joint Commission accredited facility with a national reputation for excellence.

 

Qualifications for Nurse Practitioner:  Graduate of an accredited BS degree nursing education program or equivalent experience, plus completion of masters level program for nurse practitioner; current license to practice professional nursing, and practitioner certificate from a national nursing organization and current registration in Massachusetts. Family Nurse Practitioner skills preferred. Two years Nurse Practitioner experience (one of which may be a N.P. clinical education experience) must include prescriptive practice in an ambulatory care setting. Experience in interpreting diagnostic tests including laboratory and x-ray results required. Currently certified in basic CPR. Candidates must demonstrate ability to exercise considerable independent judgment and ability to make assessments quickly and accurately, as well as have the ability to lift and transfer patients.

 

Qualifications for Physician Assistant:  Graduate of an accredited BS degree program and completion of accredited program of medical education and licensed as a Physician Assistant in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts or licensed as a Physician Assistant outside of Massachusetts and license is transferable to Massachusetts.  Transfer must be completed within six months of date of hire. Two years of clinical experience as a Physician Assistant (one of which may be a P.A. clinical education experience) must include prescriptive practice in an ambulatory care setting. Experience in interpreting diagnostic tests including laboratory and x-ray results required. Currently certified in basic CPR. Candidates must demonstrate ability to exercise considerable independent judgment and ability to make assessments quickly and accurately, as well as have the ability to lift and transfer patients.
