Part-Time Early Childhood Music Teacher (one morning per week)

(Start date: August 2008)

Independent elementary school (Preschool – Grade 5) seeks candidates with a strong commitment to and passion for early childhood music education. We are looking for an individual who will bring expertise and enthusiasm to music classes and has the desire to work closely with teachers and the elementary music teacher to ensure an enriching and fun music experience.  

Successful candidates will demonstrate their ablity to:

1.  Implement a creative and developmentally based music curriculum for children ages 2.9-5 years that incorporates singing, movement, and other expressive and experiential opportunities
2.  Value music and recognize that an early introduction to music is important
3.  Model an interest in and use of music in daily experiences
4.  Interact with children and music in a fun and playful manner
5.  Be sensitive and flexible when children's interests divert from the original plan

Qualifications:

•  BA in related field
•  Demonstrated experience working with young children
•  Knowledge of child development and age-appropriate music curriculum for young children
•  Able to accompany on piano and with other instruments
•  Commitment to developmental, multi-cultural, anti-bias education
