Planning Director

The Design and Construction Department is seeking a qualified person for the position of Director of Planning and Forecasting. This person will report to the Associate Superintendent of Facilities Management.

Essential Responsibilities shall include but not be limited to: Responsible for the development of all student population and enrollment reports and supervises the operation of the Department of Planning & Forecasting. Develop & maintain both local and system-wide student attendance data. Develops attendance areas for the efficient utilization of current and future facilities. Oversee the development of new attendance areas. Presents school system attendance area information, plans or reports to both internal and external audiences. Oversees the day-to-day operations of the Planning & Forecasting department. Develops accurate facility and instructional capacities for all schools and centers in the DeKalb County School System.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: Extensive knowledge of enrollment projections/enrollment forecasts and school redistricting. Ability to interact with all levels of school system personnel, as well as local elected officials (board members, county commission, etc.) Ability to use appropriate programs (Excel, PowerPoint, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) etc.) in support of the department’s mission is also required. Skilled in mathematics, analytical thinking, oral, written and interpersonal communication and public speaking.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree from an approved accredited college/university in demography or related field required. Masters Degree preferred but not required. Minimum of ten (10) years experience and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) required.
