Postdoctoral Associate - 08428

A postdoctoral research associate position is available immediately to join Dr. Owen Hoekenga's research group on the Cornell University campus engaged in biotechnology risk assessment research. Specifically, we are examining unintended effects to fruit quality and composition due to transgenic modification relative to phenotypic variation observed between conventionally developed cultivars of tomato. We are utilizing a multidisciplinary approach, combining metabolomic and transcriptomic profiling with phenotypic evaluation of field and greenhouse-grown materials. A collection of transgenic plants has been developed, such that progress should be relatively rapid. This research project is a collaborative effort between our laboratory and several others on the Cornell University Campus. Ph.D. with demonstrated expertise in molecular biology, biochemistry or related fields. Candidates must be highly motivated and have excellent inter-personal and communication skills. Candidates require excellent skills in molecular biology and competence with statistics. Previous experience in metabolomic analysis via LC-MS/GC-MS and plant transformation is desirable.
