PURPOSE
Use educational experience and research to develop concepts for assigned projects that
maintain or improve TREND’s product offering. Manage educational content from initial
concept to finished product.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & RESULTS
-Write product content and coordinate efforts with internal creative group to capture the look
and feel of age appropriate product design.
- 2-3 years of work experience is business setting
- Publishing experience preferred
- Function as educational expert for Pre-K through eight instructional materials.
- Research national and state standards, aligning TREND products as appropriate or required.
- Work with content group, artists, and others to conceptualize product ideas that teach
students effectively, have accurate content, are age‑appropriate, and fun.
- Test concepts and products with teachers, parents, and children to determine effectiveness
of product.
- Present rationale and content/visual objectives of new product concepts, drawing upon
understanding of educational research and trends, customer needs and competitive product offerings.
- Ability to meet deadlines by prioritizing and managing multiple projects effectively.
- Advanced computer skills to include: Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel software.
OTHER
1. Travel on occasion to represent TREND at educational functions.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelors Degree in Education and a minimum of three years of classroom teaching
experience in Grades Pre K – 8.
- Knowledge of early childhood through grade 8 content to produce products that best
fit the developmental needs of children.
- Knowledge of child-development stages and current education theories and practices.
- Proven ability to conceptualize ideas for new products and to expand existing product line.
- Two to three years of work experience in a business setting, preferably in product
content or curriculum design.
- Ability to work well in a team environment.
- Skill in teaching others and making presentations.
- Skill in communicating orally and in writing.
- Ability to effectively write copy and self-edit.
- Knowledge of basic research techniques to gather information and to test products with
focus groups.
