Production Manager - 08440

Partners in Animal Health began 2 years ago sponsored by the Department of Clinical Sciences and the Veterinary Library at Cornell's College of Veterinary Medicine. Because of its innovative vision and product line, the program has grown rapidly. Its mission is to improve the health and well-being of animals through educational outreach by creating and distributing a variety of high-quality multimedia instructional materials for veterinarians, veterinary students and animal owners. We seek a Production Manager who will play an integral role as a member of the Partners in Animal Health team, a group of talented, high-energy individuals who collaborate to produce these products. The ideal candidate is a seasoned producer/director in video or multimedia productions, has an entrepreneurial mindset that always strives for innovation and quality, and is able to effectively collaborate with a variety of individuals to creatively solve problems and deliver products on time and on budget.Responsibilities include: Participate in the planning and production of all materials from inception to completion; coordinate participants, recruit or film needed materials, assist in the mastering of final products, and conduct all video production (filming) and post production (editing) work; provide high level consultation and negotiations with clients/authors to define the scope of video production; maintain quality control of the finished product; assist the program director in coordinating the efforts of other members of the development team to ensure that audio production, animations, graphic design, web development and other contributions are executed in a well-coordinated manner; monitor the latest technology trends and innovations and make recommendations that will impact the future direction of program growth; make recommendations on video format/delivery, compression schemes, etc. and process all media content according to these standards; develop new, imaginative or innovative solutions, services, products, processes and programs; oversee the archiving and access of all completed multimedia assets to ensure that they are protected and maintained properly; maintain production equipment and research rental equipment as needed. This is a one year term position with the possibility of renewal based on performance.
Requirements: Bachelors degree. Formal training in film/video. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience and proven success in video production (including camera operation, lighting, and sound) in both producer and director roles. Proficiency in digitization, in both non-linear and conventional editing and in integration of audio, video, images, animation, and sound. Experience with streaming media and post-production from streaming media. Proven success as a project manager and be able to demonstrate a solid background in the use of educational technologies. Preferred: Animal-related interest/experience Background in or understanding of teaching or instructional design requirements and issues Experience in web development or management including usability tracking and accessibility standards General awareness of database design and usage (not including programming) No relocation assistance is provided for this position.Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
