Three years experience with Windows-based systems administration and Windows/Linux based Database Administration in a multi-vendor client/server networked environment. Three years experience with network routing, naming service, and network protocols, including TCP/IP, IMAP/SMTP/POP3-based mail, DNS, Ethernet, SMB, NFS, and NIS. Experience with distributed computing and other network-based services is very important. Must have good planning and organizational skills. An understanding of issues related to computer operations in a large University department is essential. Such issues include systems administration and integration in a multi-vendor environment, security in Unix or Windows based distributed systems, installation and support for public domain software, and maintaining an environment that allows researchers to easily switch between different vendor's systemsNo relocation assistance is provided for this position.
