Rainier School, located in Buckley Washington west of Mt. Rainier, is a residential facility for developmentally disabled adults. Established in 1939, Rainier School provides a home and services to individuals with developmental disabilities, assisting them to gain independence, be actively involved in the community and access employment opportunities. Serves as a Program Area Team (PAT) Director, within a Division of Developmental Disabilities Residential Habilitation Center (RHC).
Requirements: A bachelor's degree in Business Management and 5 years experience in facility operations, 3 of which must be in an administrative or supervisory capacity.
The incumbent will plan, organize, direct and supervise all multi-disciplinary staff in habilitation, residential and vocational programs, serving persons with developmental disabilities to maximize their learning to live as independently as possible. They will direct the coordination of programs and services, and ensures services are provided within budget, ensuring compliance with state and federal laws.
Manage the total PAT operating budget of $11 million appropriated funds. Additionally, manage local/non-appropriated funds which include donations, individual enterprise funds, client trust and local welfare funds totaling $175,000. Manage approximately 168 FTE's, of which 10 are 1st line supervisors and staffing representing 14 distinct professional disciplines.
PAT Director reports to the facility Superintendent, and is a 2nd level manager. Decision making responsibility for: client care (includes investigation and resolution on allegations of abuse or neglect, client injuries, assault, program evaluation and quality assurance), develop and deliver quality residential, habilitation and vocational services for approximately 131 clients within a PAT; personnel actions (including interviewing, hiring, training, evaluation, corrective action and grievance investigations); scheduling and assignment of PAT staff resources for 24 hour/7 day a week service delivery; authorize purchase of PAT supplies and equipment; authorize work orders for maintenance of the physical plant. Actions requiring approval of Superintendent include making recommendation for staff disciplinary actions, staff terminations, restrictive client procedures, and major equipment purchases.
Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing. Knowledge and ability to plan, organize and direct the education and habilitation of persons with developmental disabilities; knowledge of principles and methods of fiscal, personnel, and program planning, delivery and evaluation. Knowledge of principles and methods of developmental and management of residential, educational, and vocational programs; department policies, procedures and applicable laws. Ability to plan, organize and direct the work of others; to evaluate various programs including professionally developed residential, habilitation, education, and fiscal programs.
