Program Coordinator, Workforce Education Programs

This position reports to the Director of Workforce Education Programs and is responsible for coordinating all aspects of the recruitment and retention programs for WorkFirst students.  This position will serve as the primary liaison between the community and the campus in recruiting new and retaining current students.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, developing and implementing a comprehensive strategy for recruiting, marketing, and retention; establishing and maintaining partnerships with government, community based organizations, businesses, and campus community; promoting WorkFirst programs to faculty, staff, and administration by making classroom presentations and attending Division meetings; meeting one-on-one and in group settings with current and potential students; developing and updating marketing materials and assisting with the Workforce Programs website; making presentations regarding WorkFirst and Workforce education opportunities; tracking recruitment, retention outcomes, and various types of data and preparing statistical reports; and providing information and referrals to training and employment opportunities.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education & Experience: High School Graduate OR equivalent Two (2) years of program experience OR equivalent education/experience

 

Preferred Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree OR equivalent in a related field or program Three (3) years of responsible supervisory and/or administrative experience in a related field Recruiting and/or sales and marketing experience Valid Washington State Driver’s License or the ability to obtain one

 
Knowledge of:  WorkFirst and Workforce rules and regulations Employment and training programs including local human and social services resources

Skill in:
Working with the public, students and staff in a friendly, courteous and helpful manner Contributing to the College’s commitment to foster a climate of multicultural understanding Handling multiple tasks simultaneously with a strong attention to detail Establishing collaborative working relationships with students, faculty, administration, government and community agencies Using Microsoft Office, Access, Excel, Outlook and Word applications Providing strong customer service, including experience presenting complex information to a diverse audience Analyzing/applying established procedures and developing/implementing new processes Maintaining electronic and manual record keeping systems, composing correspondence, compiling data and preparing narrative and/or statistical reports Assisting individuals with resume writing, interviewing, and job search skills Working independently and in a team environment Communicating effectively, both orally and in writing

 

PHYSICAL WORK ENVIRONMENTAbility to meet the physical demands of sitting for prolonged periods of time at a desk/computer workstation, using repetitive arm, hand and finger movements Ability to work in an open office setting with frequent in-person interaction and numerous interruptions, work under pressure, handle multiple tasks and prioritize competing demands is essential This position requires frequent travel and possible evening or weekend work.  Must be able to commute to multiple locations with little notice.
