Prospect Researcher

Applications are invited for the position of Prospect Researcher, a full-time, one-year temporary position with subsequent continuance contingent upon funding.

 

The Prospect Researcher will build the College’s first comprehensive development research effort by conducting in-depth biographical and financial research of major donors and potential donors, alumni, corporations and foundations. This position will be responsible for providing biographical, philanthropic, professional and financial information on donors and prospects in the form of written profiles, event briefings and qualified prospect lists intended to support the cultivation of new donors and gift renewals. The Prospect Researcher will track prospects and donors by monitoring daily news and online alerts; manage donor information obtained internally; and conduct prospect identification through College databases and knowledge, donor participation, or other self identified interests as well as analyze, evaluate and synthesize information and prepare well-written, concise reports.  Ability to understand the needs and interests of major gift prospects and donors in order to develop relationships between them and the College.  In addition, maintain accurate and up to date records (hard copies and electronic files) of relevant donors and prospects and assist with prospect management projects and scan documents as needed.

 

Qualifications Required: Bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of two years experience in prospect research. The successful candidate will have excellent communication; strong organizational, analytical and synthesizing skills; familiarity with on-line search systems; and knowledge of guidelines of professional standards and ethics. Proven ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and manage several projects simultaneously and demonstrated ability in teamwork. Preferred: Knowledge of Keene State College, familiarity with on-line resources and wealth screening services, knowledge of Datatel/Benefactor or similar relational databases.  Experience in a higher educational setting.
