DESCRIPTION:Under general supervision, manages the Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) Radioisotope Receiving Laboratory; controls receipt and shipment of radioactive materials, supports the control of inventory of radioactive materials, performs instrument calibration, repair, decontamination services, collection of assay samples, and general customer assistance is furnished by the Radioisotope receiving lab, provides work direction for student workers, assists in maintaining computer and hard copy records of matters pertaining to the radiation safety program, provides training for radiation users and affiliates where appropriate, and provides general support to the Department where appropriate. Provides and maintains excellent customer service to all lab users.~~ Occasional overtime may be required.QUALIFICATIONS:* Knowledge of California Radiation Control Regulations, Nuclear Regulatory Commission Regulations and U.S. Department of Transportation Regulations relative to the control and use of radioactive materials, radiation dosimetry, contamination control, radiation shielding, etc.* Bachelor’s Degree in a scientific Field (hard science preferred) and two years experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.* Ability to perform unit conversions.* Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.* Communication skills necessary to impart health and safety information to workers of varied backgrounds.* Strong knowledge of the principles of nuclear decay and radioactive emission interactions* Must be willing and able to work with Radioisotopes.Excellent benefits that start the first day of hire.
