Duties:
Penn Vector Core, part of the Gene Therapy Program at the University of Pennsylvania, is a state of art facility which provides numerous services including cloning, DNA preparation and production of viral-based vectors for gene therapy and vaccine applications. The candidate will be primarily responsible for the isolation of adenoviruses and the creation and purification of recombinant adenoviral vectors. The candidate will also be responsible for the production of adeno-associated viral vectors and lentiviral vectors as well as the development and optimization of new vector production processes. The candidate will interact with other co-workers to analyze and report data, order and maintain an inventory of reagents and conduct research when necessary.
Qualifications:
B.Sc. with 1-3 years of laboratory experience and a good understanding of molecular biology and virology concepts is required. Previous tissue culture experience is required. Prior experience with handling bacterial plasmids, cloning, DNA restriction enzyme digests, PCR and other related molecular techniques is highly preferable. Experience with computer programs such as Excel or Access is preferred. This position is contingent upon background check and funding.
