POSITION:   Reference Librarian (2533)

DEPARTMENT:   Library

LOCATION:    Spectrum

STARTING SALARY:  Commensurate with experience

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: The Reference Librarian assists in-library, regional, and online students, faculty, and staff in finding information and using Library resources (phone, in-person, and online); serves as a Library Liaison and collection selector for one or more academic departments; provides outreach to faculty and online students; and collaborates with faculty to provide library instruction that fulfills student learning outcomes for specific courses and programs. Flexible work hours required including some evening and weekend hours. Preference given to qualified applicant willing to work evenings and/or Saturday.

 

EDUCATION:

Required:  Master’s degree in Library Science (MLS) or Library and Information Science (MLIS) from an American Library Association accredited program or an International equivalent.

Desirable:  College major or graduate work in a relevant subject area

 

QUALIFICATIONS:  

Desired: One (1) year experience as a reference librarian in an academic library, providing reference assistance to adult learners; One (1) year experience searching library journal article databases and online catalogs. Experience collaborating with faculty; Experience teaching or providing library instruction; Experience working with subject area collections; Effective communicator; Self-motivated, creative thinker who can work in a fast-paced work environment.
