American Heart Association Regional Outreach Manager, Healthy Schools Program Location - Candidate must reside in one of the following states upon employment: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Carolina, North Dakota, South Carolina, South Dakota, Virginia, or Wisconsin. The Regional Outreach Manager will be responsible for overall recruitment and ongoing support of schools that participate in the online support option of the Healthy Schools Program in the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic regions of the United States.Responsibilities will include recruitment of schools and districts; delivery of direct technical assistance to schools through electronic and telephonic means; coordination of technical assistance needs with national Alliance staff; development, cultivation, and management of key relationships with key state stakeholders; hands-on guidance and support to key school champion(s) managing the program; and accountability for specific outcomes demonstrated by the schools.Performance will be measured by progress of the schools in the defined geographic region.Duties:'Implementation of the online healthy schools program within the region, including recruitment of schools and virtual technical assistance. 'Execution of direct and indirect technical assistance efforts and appropriate follow-up and coordinating those efforts with national center. 'Coordination of efforts with American Heart Association Affiliates and state stakeholders.'Development, cultivation, and management of key relationships within the school health and childhood obesity prevention communities in the regions. 'Marketing of the school recognition program within the territory to school officials through conferences, trainings, and publications. 'Monthly reporting the program outcomes to AHA Affiliate staff & national Alliance staff. 'Active participation in Alliance team events and performance of any other duties that serve the broader success of the Healthy Schools Program as deemed appropriate by the National Schools Director or Associate Director for Field Services.'Ability to travel 30% of the time, primarily in the defined territory. College degree is required. The successful candidate is required to have good knowledge of the school environment and/or successful management and implementation of programs in schools or with youth. It is also desirable for the candidate to have some background in education or working with educators on systems change efforts. The candidate must be comfortable and competent in telephonic and electronic modes of communication. Minimum of three years experience in general project management, school, policy, public health or youth environment. Experience in the online and virtual environment and developing and managing relationships with diverse groups/environments and individuals.
