Resident Director

The Division of Student Development at Wheeling Jesuit University is accepting applications from qualified candidates for the position of Resident Director. This is a full time, 12-month, live-in position with supervisory responsibilities for 1-2 residence halls with 200-300 residents and residence hall staff. Responsibilities include implementing programs designed to foster an atmosphere for scholarship, service, leadership and respect within a residence hall environment.



QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants should have a Master's degree in Student Personnel Administration, Counseling, or related field.  [Bachelor's degree with strong and appropriate experience considered].  Prior residence hall experience is essential.



MAJOR DUTIES:Supervise 6-15 resident assistants.  Provide overall supervision in the residence halls including front desk workers. Meet regularly with resident assistant staff. Provide campus wide on-call coverage. Must chaperone the Fall Formal and Spring Formal. Hold and maintain 5 central office hours and 10 office hours in your residence hall. Maintain records and submit appropriate paperwork for all room changes, room damages, and room assignments for the residential area. Oversee the check-in; check-out procedures, damage charges, key distribution and collection, including holiday/University breaks. Maintain an awareness of the general building condition, safety and security, furnishings, and other equipment. Serve as a liaison with other campus agencies, including Physical Plant, Safety & Security, Athletics, etc. Enforce and uphold all University policies and regulations; file incident reports as needed. Meet with students on behavioral issues/educational conversations. Direct and coordinate a major area of responsibility with the central office (such as judicial cases, moderating student groups, inter-hall council) and maintain a professional central office atmosphere. Assist in resident assistant selection and training, advising the Inter Hall Council, room selection process, student conduct, and campus duty roster. Supervise the resident assistants with programming efforts. Attend residence life staff meetings and other University meetings as needed. Other duties as assigned by the Associate Dean for Residence Life and Student Conduct.
