SENIOR FINANCIAL ANALYST - Financial Services
The Cost and Capital Analysis department, a part of Financial Services, provides analytical and planning services to the University, performing a wide variety of financial, costing, business and other analyses, as well as financial modeling and planning functions for new operating and capital initiatives. In addition, the department is responsible for setting the rates of the University’s fringe benefits and Facilities and Administrative Costs (F&A) for sponsored research. The Cost and Capital Analysis department seeks an individual with strong analytical and communication skills, as well as proficient knowledge of financial statements and generally accepted accounting principles, to fill its available Senior Financial Analyst position.
The Senior Financial Analyst position has responsibility in four main areas: Peer Ratio Database and Trend Analyses: Assess the University’s financial health, student profiles and other data in relation to its peers; present and defend analysis results; Credit Rating Management: Assess debt capacity and impact on the University’s credit ratings and University and schools’ financial health; present and defend results and recommend action to senior management; Financial Planning: Team participant in maintaining the University´s Integrated Resource Model, performing spreadsheet modeling, strategic planning for schools and operating units, resource planning for research, joint ventures, new business and other financial models, school profiles, rate setting and other costing analyses; Special Projects/Cross-Training: Perform specialized and complex analyses at request of Finance and Planning team, Vice President Finance, school executive associate deans, and senior administration; cross-train and provide back-up support for Finance and Planning functions.
The Senior Financial Analyst will also manage key relationships with school fiscal officers, Operations and Development managers, and other customers.
Basic Requirements: Bachelor’s degree Minimum of three years of related experience Strong spreadsheet and presentation skills in a Microsoft environment; experience with Excel, Word and PowerPoint
Preferred Qualifications: The selected individual will demonstrate strong teamwork skills in a complex organization. The ideal candidate will possess at least five years of progressively responsible hands-on analytical, financial, and accounting experience; attention to detail; excellent communication, customer service, project and time management and problem solving skills with a commitment to continuous improvement. An advanced degree or certificate is preferred.
