School Services Senior Manager

Green Dot Public Schools (www.greendot.org) is the leading operator of public schools in Los Angeles and an important catalyst for education reform in California.  We are looking for an intelligent, hard-working, passionate individual to help provide operations services to our schools. 

 

Green Dot’s mission is to transform public education in LA so that all young adults receive the education they deserve to be prepared for college, leadership and life.  The non-profit organization’s work is directly focused on influencing the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) to transform its failing high schools into clusters of small successful schools and helping the district reinvent itself as one of the best school districts in the country. Green Dot has already opened twelve successful charter high schools in some of the highest need areas of Los Angeles (with more planned for 2008), and in doing so has demonstrated that public schools can do a far better job of educating students if they are operated more effectively.

 

Green Dot is seeking a School Services Senior Manager with the right skills and experience to not only manage our existing schools, but also to support the organization’s ambitious growth plans.  This is a very exciting time to be joining Green Dot, and it is an excellent opportunity for someone with the right skills, enjoys being challenged professionally and has a passion for transforming public education in Los Angeles.

 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

· Develop and implement strategic plan for providing operational services to all of Green Dot’s schools (16 schools serving ~7,000 students in September 2008)

· Optimize delivery of key operational responsibilities to school sites, which include : 

· Food Services

· Attendance

· Transportation

· School Move Coordination

· Furniture, Fixtures and Equipment Tracking and Procurement

· Negotiate company-wide contracts with specific vendors, leveraging Green Dot’s economies of scale to maximize cost savings

· Develop long-term operations plan to support the aggressive growth of the organization in coming years

· Develop and implement operational policies and procedures across all school sites

 

 

REQUIREMENTS:

 

· Hard working, motivated and self-directed

· Highly organized and detail oriented; able to think critically

· Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously

· Strong interpersonal skills, including verbal and written communication skills

· Ability to be flexible and adapt in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment

· A strong ethical base and good judgment

· Experience in property management or within the real estate industry is preferred

· Strong computer skills with software programs such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and the Internet

· Bachelor’s degree is required.  Graduate degree (MBA, Public Policy, etc.) is preferred.
