Senior Major Gift Officer
Applications are invited for the position of Senior Major Gift Officer, a full-time, year-round benefited position.
The Senior Major Gift Officer is responsible for the management of relationships with a portfolio of major gift prospects of 75-100 prospects which includes developing and implement strategies for securing financial support from this group and identifying, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major gifts for the College from alumni, parents, friends, and one of the College’s volunteer boards to which the successful candidate will be assigned. The Senior Major Gifts Officer will lead a team of two additional Major Gift Officers by initiating, analyzing, monitoring and evaluating individual strategy plans for qualification, cultivation and solicitation of major gift prospects and providing regular reports on planning and progress. The successful candidate must have an interest in all aspects of education and a dedication to promoting the College's fund-raising priorities through developing excellent working relationships with faculty, senior academic leaders, trustees and other volunteers, and the university advancement team. Knowledge of tax laws that impact charitable giving, personal assets and estates. Personal belief in mission, goals and objectives of private higher education. Must be able to work under pressure of deadlines and dollar goals.
Qualifications Required: Bachelor's degree and a minimum of three or more years of successful fund-raising experience, including direct solicitation of five to six-figure gifts from individuals and management. Broad knowledge of the principles of individual fund raising, including an understanding and support of the annual giving program. Ability to understand the needs and interests of major gift prospects and donors in order to develop relationships between them and the College. Ability to initiate, follow-through, analyze, monitor and evaluate individual strategy plans for qualification, cultivation and solicitation of prospects. Ability to articulate the case for support so that individuals see themselves as stakeholders in the future of the College with sufficient effectiveness to secure gifts and pledges of $25,000 or more. Capital campaign experience and knowledge of planned giving programs. Must be able to travel around the region and to other areas of the country and hold a valid driver’s license and passport. Preferred: Master's degree in business, public administration and management, or higher education management; Five or more years of individual major gift fundraising experience, preferably in higher education. Additionally, the Institution has identified desirable qualifications that support our commitment to creating and maintaining a diverse campus community including the ability to speak a second language or to bring a multicultural perspective to the Institution. Starting Salary Range: $51,650-$58,660, complemented by a generous benefit package.
