Senior Network Engineer
Education Management Corporation, located in downtown Pittsburgh, PA is currently seeking a Senior Network Engineer. This candidate should have proven expert-level knowledge and proven experience relating to architectural design, capacity planning, project implementation and operational support for complex, multi-service communications network infrastructure and security. The Senior Network Engineer will be responsible for delivering quality services to internal IT functional teams, IT/project managers and student, faculty and staff end-users. Position requires direct interaction with equipment and service providers. The Senior Network Engineer must have at least 8 years of experience. Diverse experience in supporting multiple customer infrastructure environments and applications is required. Specific expertise in TCP/IP, BGP/EIGRP, Voice/Video over IP, QoS/CoS, Load Balancing, Firewalls, capacity planning, and performance reporting preferred. Experience within higher-education organizations and/or professional technical consulting field preferred. Relevant Certifications: CCIE, CCNP, CCDP, CCSP, CCVP, CCNP, MCSE.
Position Requirements:
1. Expert-level design and support of the optimal performance and high availability of enterprise communications network infrastructure through configuration management and advanced diagnostics relating the equipment, applications and services that include:
1. Detailed understanding of EIGRP and BGP routing protocols.
2. Cisco Routers
3. Cisco Catalyst Switches L2/L3
4. Cisco Firewalls (PIX, ASA)
5. Cisco CSM Load Balancers
6. Cisco VPN Concentrators
7. Cisco WISM, HREAP
8. Cisco VOIP, Version 4 and above, and contact center
9. Cisco Cache Engines, Content Delivery and Filtering
10. Cisco Security Monitoring, Analysis and Response System
11. Cisco NAC Appliance (Clean Access)
12. Cisco WAAS
13. Understanding of RADIUS/TACACS+ Authentication Platforms
14. Expert-level understanding of network security, intrusion detection (IDS), intrusion prevention (IPS) and network resiliency / recovery
15. NetQoS Performance Center (Netvoyant, Reporter Analyzer & Super Agent)
2. Needs to thoroughly understand TCP/IP interoperability between diverse technologies. Ie DNS, SMTP, FTP through Network Devices listed above.
3. Expert-level understanding of network application-based prioritization including Quality of Service (QoS) and Class of Service (CoS)
4. Customer service orientation.
5. Excellent communications and interpersonal skills. Able to work with people from a variety of socio-economic and cultural backgrounds.
6. Ability to work effectively as a member of a team, and the ability to interact successfully with technical, academic as well as business and regulatory personnel.
7. Ability to analyze problems and recommend solutions.

11. Responsible for the overall plan, design, installation, maintenance, management, and coordination of LAN/WAN integration into the network. Analyzes LAN/WAN and recommends upgrades/changes and security procedures and policies; assesses organization's current and future LAN/WAN needs.
12. Performs 3rd Level hardware fault isolation and repair while following industry standard change management guidelines.
13. Performs engineering design evaluations and works to complete projects within budget and scheduling restraints.
14. Requires a bachelor's degree and 8 years of experience in the field or in a related area
