Duties And Responsibilities:

 

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer/J2EE Developer to be part of a software team that designs and develops state-of-the-art technologies for an infrastructure software group. The person in this position will: collaborate with product managers to gather, interpret and validate user and system requirements; develop technical specifications; design and implement software solutions; perform unit, system and integration testing; participate in peer code reviews and production support; collaborate with other engineers to develop project estimates; mentor junior engineers.

Required Education, Experience and Skills:

 

The successful candidate must possess a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Computer Information Systems, or related field. 5+ years demonstrated experience designing and developing software applications and 2+ years of experience as a senior developer, including mentoring others, code reviews, etc. Extensive hands-on experience with J2EE and web services is required. Relevant technologies include SOAP, Hibernate, Struts, Spring, WebLogic AS 8/9, and Solaris. Experience with at least one of the major RDBMS systems, preferably Oracle is required. Strong UML, design patterns, and object-oriented design skills. Experience in designing systems for high availability, security, manageability, and reliability is a must. Solid understanding of software development lifecycle methodologies, especially Scrum, and RUP methods, and been part of a team that delivered projects through the complete System Development Life Cycle (SDLC). Experience working with a 10+ member development team on a J2EE project through the entire SDLC. The candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong aptitude and desire to learn new technologies and tools, and an ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines.

 

The successful candidate will have a broad base of experience in many disciplines, including operating systems, systems management and development tools, application program interfaces (APIs), database management systems, development methodologies, messaging software, security, directory services, interoperability techniques and standards. Desirable skills: Strong background in information security and related standards. Working knowledge of a leading Identity Management suite (SUN or Oracle) is a big plus. A familiarity with large-scale distributed systems using message queues, application servers or other related technologies is desired. A working knowledge of a portal platform and. exposure to .NET platform development is a plus.
