Senior Staff Accountant

The School for Field Studies (SFS) in Salem, Massachusetts is accepting applications for a Senior Staff Accountant. As a member of the Finance Team, and will provide a major link between our Headquarters and five international field locations.  You will partner with bookkeepers and Center Directors by regularly communicating with them regarding center level accounting, auditing and reconciliation.  Along with other members of the Finance Team, you will assist in the forecasting and analyzing of budgets, with audit related issues, financial statements, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger maintenance and other special projects. 

To succeed in this role, you will need:Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance 4+ years of related work experience, preferably non-profit, educational or fund accounting experience.  (Experience with accruals is a must).Strong communication and people skills.Strong computer skills, including experience with accounting software (especially Blackbaud and QuickBooks) and Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, etc.).Ability to work independently.Organized, analytical and detail-oriented.Effectively handle multiple projects concurrently.Fluent in Spanish language preferred.Relevant international experience a plus.A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.Some travel to field center locations may be required.

Start Date:  May, 2008

Salary:$50,000 (commensurate with experience).Excellent benefits package.
