Special Education Positions - Teacher Assistant & Mental Health Worker

We have openings for a Teacher Assistant and a Mental Health Worker for our special education classroom in the William Penn School District.

 

Teacher Assistant

Assist the teacher in the implementation of teacher-prepared instructional activities with individuals or small groups.  Assist in the on-going implementation of the behavioral management program.  Directly supervise children during non-instructional times.  Accompany students in out-of-classroom activities.  Perform other duties as assigned, including monitoring classroom and completing written reports.  Requirements:  Experience working with children in a school, recreational or other mental health program. 

 

Mental Health Worker

Provide daily crisis intervention & on-going informal counseling to students & parents.  Initiate daily school attendance records & follow up on attendance with students, staff, parents, and outside agencies.  Participate in developing & implementing alternative behavioral management strategies & reward reinforcement programs & provides support to classroom staff.  Complete appropriate written reports for administration or teaching staff.  Requirements:  Three years related experience without a college degree.  Minimum of one year related experience with AA or BA degree.

 

All Wordsworth positions require a PA Child Abuse History and PA Criminal Record Check.  Some positions may require a FBI Record Check.  A Motor Vehicle Report and Proof of Insurance will be necessary should the position require an employee to transport clients.
