The Digital Products Group has an outstanding opportunity for a Web Designer to join us based in New York, NY. The Web Designer will collaborate with the product, usability and editorial staff to follow projects through to their successful completion, including assisting with concept development, design, layout, and code as necessary. Responsibilities: Develop design aesthetic for product portfolio ensuring all digital products have similar design approach. Visualize product concepts using detailed mockups and prototypes. Define the overall ‘look and feel’ of product user-interfaces including production of interface elements and other graphic assets. Translate business requirements into appropriate and successful user-interface designs and presenting solutions to key product sponsors and stakeholders. Act as user advocate throughout user experience design process. Conduct competitive assessments and user experience audits. Define and produce comprehensive style guide documentation for complex web applications. Translate wireframes into high-fidelity screen mockups and prototypes. Create innovative methods of visualization of financial/investment data. BFA/BA 3+ years of relevant experience as a creative and innovative web designer Proven mastery of visual design principles as they apply to web user interfaces and practical knowledge of user centered design methodologies Must have a working knowledge of information architecture and interaction design principles Thorough knowledge of the creative process— particularly practical implementation, in order to effectively gauge workloads and deadline expectations In-depth knowledge of one or more current web markup or scripting languages: XHTML, CSS, Javascript, Ajax. Proficiency in HTML as well as at least one web authoring software: Dreamweaver, FrontPage, GoLive Extensive experience with at least one desktop publishing/imaging application in each of the following categories: Photo Editing (Adobe Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro) Drawing (Adobe Illustrator, Macromedia Freehand, Corel Draw) Page Layout (Adobe InDesign) Presentation (MS PowerPoint) Multimedia (Macromedia Director, Flash, streaming audio and video) Others (Adobe Distiller/Exchange, GifBuilder, GifConverter, 3ds Max, etc.) Experience with managing website content. Strong background with one of the following operating systems and familiarity with the others: Windows, Mac, UNIX. Understanding of dynamic or active web content and the use of Perl, C/C++, CGI, and/or SQL.
