Summer Program Support Specialist

Justice Resource Institute (JRI) seeks a Program Support Specialist for full-time employment this summer at the New Bedford Juvenile Resource Center (NBJRC). The NBJRC is an intensive day treatment program for twenty-four male juvenile offenders that are on probation in Bristol County. The NBJRC is administered by the Office of Community Corrections (OCC). JRI works effectively with OCC, Juvenile Probation, and New Bedford Public School teachers to provide an array of services to the Center's participants. The Program Support Specialist will provide most, or all of the following services: 1)facilitate and co-facilitate cognitive-behavioral and psychoeducational group counseling sessions in substance abuse education and prevention, anger management, conflict resolution, and life skills 2) health education 3) job skills development and job placement activities 4) art therapy 5) horticulture and public gardening 6) physical education 7) direct care supervision. This position requires some experience and training in the fields of adolescent psychotherapy, education, vocational education, and health and art education. The Program Support Specialist will work under the direction of the JRI Treatment Manager.
