System and Security Architect
St. Charles Community College is seeking a System and Security Architect to strategically design and implement in-house information systems, networked architectures and data security to provide the appropriate technologies to support the mission of the college, while assuring compliance with government regulations, and ensuring appropriate access to data.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Develop plans and systems to improve the performance, scalability and agility of campus systems, networks, security and data.
· Document, monitor, and implement information security policies and procedures.
· Plan and perform systematic information security risk assessments and serve as the internal auditor of information security processes.
· Evaluate and monitor all aspects of the IT infrastructure and network architecture including mainframe, software applications, network, and other security-related components to ensure appropriate security.
· Assist in investigating and documenting information security violations, report violations to the appropriate department or authority, and lead improvement efforts.
· Define and gain organizational commitment for all system and network plans and enterprise tools, as well as evaluate and help select all technologies required to complete those plans.
· Monitor internal control systems to ensure that appropriate information access levels and security are maintained.
· Prepare, implement, and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans for information systems.
· Work with Academic, Administrative and Networking Computing and other departments to plan and implement coordinated information security initiatives in response to advances in information security technologies and changes in organizational needs, as well as provide security education programs for all areas of the college.
· Monitor changes in legislation, regulations, and accreditation standards that affect information security and lead compliance efforts, as well as define appropriate technologies to achieve compliance.
· Initiate, develop, and promote activities to increase information security awareness within the College.
· Assist in establishing data ownership and associated responsibilities.
· Ensure procedures are in place for clearing, purging, destroying, and releasing data.
· Ensure implementation of periodic security inspections, assessments, tests, and reviews.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree (B.A). in Computer Science or related field from four-year college or university; or four or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess a working knowledge of network architecture, information security practices and procedures, Active Directory, WAN/LAN security, Internet and wireless technology. Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) Certification preferred.
