The Department of Population Medicine and Diagnostic Sciences in the College of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell University invites applications for a 12-month tenure- track Assistant or Associate Professor position in Ambulatory and Production Medicine. The responsibilities of the position will include: providing clinical service on local farms, co-supervising three house officers, sharing backup emergency duties with other faculty, conducting applied clinical research, and teaching in the DVM curriculum. The candidate is envisioned to spend about 50% effort in clinical service with the remainder in applied clinical research and teaching. The clinic sees about 35,000 animals per year, 85% of which are dairy cattle and includes a bull stud. The remainder of the caseload is made up of horses, small ruminants, swine and camelids.
Applicants need to have a DVM or equivalent degree. Veterinarians with a strong interest and expertise in dairy cattle primary care, production medicine, and health and welfare of food animals are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to candidates with relevant advanced training or proven skills in dairy production medicine, demonstrated clinical research ability, and interest in veterinary education.
