CTB/McGraw-Hill, has an outstanding opportunity for a Vice President of Finance, based at our headquarters in Monterey, CA. Reporting to the President of CTB, The Vice President of Finance will be responsible for the overall financial reporting and benchmarking of the performance of CTB. This position serves as the principal advisor for all financial matters which may affect the short-term or long-term financial success of CTB. The Vice President of Finance is accountable for planning, developing, implementing, and administering financial control, analysis, operating systems, internal control — especially ensuring that we are Sarbanes-Oxley compliant, and following the established policies for the organization within the policy guidelines, and assuring that these policies are in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, tax regulations, and all local, national laws both domestically and internationally, as applicable. Essential Accountabilities: · Direct the financial activities for CTB, including:· Maintain the financial and accounting policies, practices and procedures of CTB in strict compliance with GAAP, McGraw-Hill policies, and all other statutory requirements.· Maintain strict control environment to assure protection of company assets, accuracy and appropriate transparency of financial information, measurability of and accountability for results. · Provide timely, accurate, and relevant financial information to support all balance sheet accounts and other financial statements, including all company reports. Meet challenging deadlines for monthly and quarterly financial reporting as well as detailed information required for quarterly and full-year estimates.· Provide well-constructed decision-support analysis with interpretation of financial information to assist management in the effort of achieving CTB tactical and strategic goals. This includes development and implementation of standards and practices to measure departmental and unit financial performance; assign accountability, evaluate financial performance and report results. · Plan and develop all aspects of CTB’s annual budget and MRP, including process for setting detailed revenue and cost targets, investment spending, developing and timely submission of all required reports, developing all support analysis and presentation materials.· Review proposed division plans and investments, and provide business cases, financial forecasts and indicators and business recommendations. · Provide financial forecasts for operating and capital planning and budgeting. · Prepare ad hoc financial information, analysis, and recommendations as requested. · Supervise the development of information systems designed to provide process efficiencies, decision support, and security.· Interpret implications of changes in local, state, federal, and global regulations and legislation as they apply to the financial operation of CTB. · Participate in business and financial planning meetings for MHAR and MHE, and prepare and present reports as required. · Manage the CTB Finance department, to include creating the appropriate organizational structure, recruiting and retaining qualified personnel, evaluation of personnel in accordance with CTB and McGraw-Hill Human Resources policies, development and training of staff, and maintaining a positive and constructive environment to enable performance and personal growth of the Finance team.· Knowledge of the Assessment (testing) industry highly preferred· Significant experience in financial analysis and planning· Experience managing budgets of several million dollars· Demonstrated success working closely and collaboratively with all members of the Executive team, including management, Sales and Marketing, Operations, Human Resources, and others· Success managing, coaching and guiding large teams (30+)· Experience working directly with customer base· Experience pricing new business· Ability to aggressively and systematically pursue cost savings and productivity initiatives· Global finance/operations experience as part of a multi-national corporation highly desirable· An effective communicator and relationship builder · Bachelor's Degree in accounting and/or finance· A CPA and/or MBA highly desirable· The ability to travel extensively throughout the U.S. and internationally McGraw-Hill Education: Where the World Learns to Succeed Copyright 2008 The McGraw-Hill Companies.
