Visiting Assistant Professor- Magazine Journalism

The Journalism Department in the newly established Center for Communication and Journalism at the State University of New York College at Plattsburgh invites applications for a non-tenure-track three-year Visiting Assistant Professor position in Magazine Journalism starting fall 2008. Our Magazine Journalism – the only one in SUNY – is the fastest-growing major in the journalism program. Journalism is one of the fastest-growing programs at the college, its enrollment increasing by 80 percent in the last four years.

 

Responsibilities: 4/4 teaching load may include courses in the following areas: Magazine Article Writing, Travel Writing, News Writing, Introduction to Journalism, and a self-identified area of specialty. Departmental service duties includes academic and career advisement for magazine majors and committee assignments. Since the focus is on teaching and service, there is no scholarship or publication requirement for this position.

 

Qualifications: Master’s Degree with substantial newspaper and/or magazine industry experience required. Undergraduate-level teaching experience preferred.
