Web Design and Interactive Media Instructors Needed (Part-time)

 

The Art Institute of California – San Diego is seeking dedicated, analytical, creative, and motivated individuals from the industry to join our very successful web design and interactive media program. The Art Institute of California-San Diego provides postsecondary career-oriented education for the creative arts. We are among a cadre of proprietary Art Colleges within the U.S. Our schools offer Bachelor and Associate degree programs in the design, media arts and technology and culinary fields. Professional faculty, industry-focused curriculum and industry related facilities and equipment keep our school at the forefront of art and technology.

 

We are seeking positive minded Web Design and Interactive Media professionals to teach day and/or evening classes in the following areas:

 

1.  Flash CS3/ActionScript 3 developer

2.  Interactive Designer/Developer

 

 

Flash CS3/ActionScript 3 Developer

Required Skills and Experience:

 

•  3+ years of professional experience in designing desktop or web applications using Flash and ActionScript

•  Advanced proficiency in the use of ActionScript 3

•  Strong understanding of object-oriented programming

•  Expertise in the Flash CS3 environment, timeline, panels, etc.

•  Experience in integrating Flash, ActionScript, XML, and other web technologies

•  Knowledge of Adobe Flex and AIR

•  General knowledge of Adobe CS3 products, JavaScript, XHTML, CSS is a plus

•  Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s Degree is preferred

•  Experience in teaching a plus

•  Website is required

 

 

Interactive Designer/Developer

Required Skills and Experience:

 

•  Strong visual design skills with proficiency at selecting color palettes and designing screen layouts and typography

•  Experience employing an iterative, user-centric design process

•  Knowledge of user interface design principles, best practices and standards

•  Advanced proficiency in information layout and visual design principles is required

•  Advanced proficiency in HTML, CSS, Adobe CS3 Design and Web suites is required

•  Expertise in JavaScript, AJAX, Flash is a plus

•  A solid grasp of graphic, web and software design principles as well as the limitations associated with these environments

•  An excellent eye for design detail

•  Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s Degree is preferred

•  Experience in teaching a plus

•  Portfolio is required.

 

Positions are available beginning in our summer 2008 quarter (July through September), continuing into the fall and 2009. 

 

Classes are offered on a 4-hr per week basis, with sessions running 8-12 noon, 1-5 pm and 6-10pm.  Interested candidates must have some schedule flexibility.
