We are currently seeking a proven leader to provide building maintenance, repair and renovation services to a sector of academic buildings. We'll rely on you to serve as steward for the buildings and coordinate the work of in-house personnel and contractors; serve as primary point of contact with faculty and staff for services provided by Buildings and Grounds Maintenance; plan, program, budget and execute maintenance and engineering services considering occupant requirements, applicable codes, life cycle costs and energy costs; and maintain close working relationships with Building Maintenance, Utilities, Grounds and Parking & Transportation departments. You will also be expected to establish and manage budgets for preventive, reactive and planned maintenance based upon historical expenditures; coordinate with the Contracted Services Department to ensure successful delivery of contracted maintenance services such as custodial, trash/recycling, pest control, DI water, automatic doors and elevators; prepare, communicate and maintain operating plans to optimize the consumption of energy and water; and identify, monitor and update our Preventive and Planned Maintenance programs for the long-term preservation of the buildings. Additional responsibilities will include managing project budgets and schedules for deferred maintenance, facility renewal, energy retrofit and water conservation projects and participating in the design, construction, plans review, commissioning, occupancy and warranty of new/remodeled buildings.
To qualify, you should have a minimum of 5-8 years of progressively responsible facilities management experience in a multi-client customer service environment in science and engineering buildings, effective communication skills and experience in the design, construction, operation and maintenance of wet and dry labs, environmental rooms, building controls and toxic/flammable gas monitoring systems. Your background should also include bottom line financial management, budgeting and accounting and you should be familiar with applicable codes and regulations and have proficiency in PC-based word processing, spreadsheet, database and project management software. A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management is preferred.
