Phoenix, AZ At present, we have an excellent opportunity for an Application / System Engineer in our Phoenix, AZ location. Arrow Electronics builds complex computer systems at our Phoenix location. This position supports the manufacturing, configuration, and testing of complex computer product. Tasks to include developing / documenting / implementing process improvements, revising / developing manufacturing build plans and interfacing with internal and external customers on design and product / production issues. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: § Support computer product assembly, software load, testing in a primarily Sun Microsystems environment § Document, implement, and improve process efficiencies within the integration center § Develop engineering solutions for both customer requirements and internal process improvements § Work well in a team based environment with excellent communication skills § Provide labor / NRE estimates for new, complex business § Other duties as assigned BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: § BS in Computer Science, CIS, or Electrical Engineering or equivalent combination of training, education and experience § Years of related experience working with the manufacturing, troubleshooting and installation of computer products may be substituted for a college degree on a year for year basis § Sun Microsystems, Solaris / Unix, Linux or other server based computer product specific experience § Ability to troubleshoot complex problems (software and hardware) and recommend potential solutions § Demonstrated ability to communicate (verbal and written) with varying levels of technical expertise § Demonstrated ability to document / change / improve current processes in use in integration § Demonstrated project management skills PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: § Have a working knowledge of Lean / Six Sigma tools and work experience in the implementation of these tools § Experience in supporting computer product manufacturing, configuration, and test in an ISO controlled environment § Relevant industry certifications (A+, Network +, Server +, MCP, MCSE, Dell, Sun / Solaris) We offer a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package, which includes tuition reimbursement, employee stock ownership plan, health and dental plans, 401(k), and a unique sabbatical program.
